YOU BEAUTY Dining Room & bar - Bangalow, NSW

If you want to eat interesting and delicious food in Bangalow, You Beauty is the go-to.

The restaurant opened in 2022, and the menu is driven by Chef Matt Stone and focuses on fresh flavours using local ingredients.

Stone’s philosophy is "The less food has travelled, the better it is, and the better it is for the environment".

The dining room has a retro 1970s ambience about it with wood cladding on the walls, and large wooden speakers perched high above. I’d describe the vibe as casual and the food elegantly casual - and simply delicious.

YOU BEAUTY offers a range of small plates plus a few mains - all plates feature their iconic kangaroo branding.

Our dinner choices were a Crumbed Pork Cutlet, smothered with garlic butter sauce with capers & finger lime; and Australian Bug Mornay and potato chips.

And for dessert, a slice of Neapolitan style ice cream with layers of Whisky & Dark Choc, Davidson Plum (Ooray), and Vanilla served with a cute kangaroo shaped cookie on top.

They are licensed with a solid and evolving range of Australian wines by the glass, and beers on tap.

Happy Hour runs weekdays 3-5pm with $14 Negronis and Margaritas.

If you're not a Bangalow local, a quick scan of their Instagram page @youbeauty2479 will convince you to drive there to eat.

And Sunday's 'Records with mates' sounds worth investigating to fully enjoy audio spilling out of those enormous hi-fi speakers. Next time.
