THE POTTERS COTTAGE - Bangalow, NSW Homespun creative charm... You'll find quirky art on the walls and rustic, upcycled furnishings in this rather special stay away spot. With such homespun cosy charm it doesn’t feel quite right to call it an Airbnb, but it is. Owner Rebecca has cleverly combined the best of three worlds – living a very short walk from Bangalow’s town centre, running a pottery shop and maker space, and a charming holiday rental. The location makes it super convenient to walk to several local restaurants (I recommend You Beauty), cafes, the Banglaow Hotel, and a local convenience store – so there’s no need to drive into town. We were welcomed on arrival at this pretty weatherboard house by the resident old dog Darth who smiles at you as you pass him by. There’s also a lazy old cat who might wander over for a pat. The two bedroom accommodation at the Potters Cottage - one double, one single - is at the back of the house. At the front is Bangalow Pottery, a small shopfront gallery which sells a lovely range of handmade and hand painted plates, cups, and creative statement pieces. Most of the interior space - except the fridge and gas stovetop - appears to be upcycled or repurposed. Creativity, personality, and conservation combined! The use of distressed painted wooden furniture – plus a hint of steam punk and corrugated iron walls – appears throughout, giving the space a cosy vibe. The kitchen also features handmade tableware made by host Rebecca, or her daughter. I found it a creative breath of fresh air compared to some contemporary but bland accommodation spaces. It was nice to sip coffee from organically shaped handmade cups with handles designed with a comfortable, natural grip. So much so I enquired about buying those very cups – and I did. The beds are comfortable (a double bed and a single) and everything you need that matters has been supplied by a thoughtful host. Accommodation includes all linen, and a fridge filled with breakfast ingredients, and an assortment of dry ingredients including dried herbs, tea, and coffee. WHAT TO EXPECT: Max Occupancy = 3 persons. Minimum nightly stay = 1 night.Amenities include - Breakfast | Internet | Kitchen with cooking facilities & full fridge | TV Central location Rustic charm Would I stay there again?
